Supertram Renewal Works.
Fitzalan Square
Dates:
Saturday 8 to Monday 31 August 2026
These works will include rail replacement, upgrades to pedestrian crossings as well as signalling systems, and improvements to the overhead line equipment.
Service Changes During the Works
- Blue route: Will serve Malin Bridge to Cathedral and Sheffield Station to Halfway.
- Purple route: Will serve Sheffield Station to Herdings Park.
- Yellow route: Will serve Middlewood to Cathedral and Woodbourn Road to Meadowhall.
- Tram Train route: Will serve Woodbourn Road to Parkgate.

Essential works to improve your Supertram network will take place near to Fitzalan Square tram stops (Saturday 8 to Monday 31 August inclusive).
During this time, there will be service changes to all tram routes.
Supertram replacement bus services:
- YE1 and TT1 will operate between Cathedral and Woodbourn Road
- BP1 will operate between Cathedral and Granville Road
Tram services in this area are expected to resume on Tuesday 1 September.

Blue route services
From Saturday 8 August to Sunday 31 August inclusive, Blue Route services will run between Malin Bridge and Cathedral before terminating. Trams will then resume service from Sheffield Station towards Halfway.
Supertram replacement bus service BP1 will connect to tram services at Cathedral, and will serve affected stops between Cathedral and Granville Road.
Purple route services
From Saturday 8 August to Sunday 31 August inclusive, Purple Route services will run between Sheffield Station and Herdings Park.

Replacement bus service
Yellow route services
From Saturday 8 August to Sunday 31 August inclusive, Yellow Route services will run between Middlewood and Cathedral before terminating. Trams will then resume service from Woodbourn Road towards Meadowhall.
Supertram replacement bus service YE1 will connect to tram services at Cathedral, and will serve affected stops between Cathedral and Woodbourn Road.
Tram Train route services
From Saturday 8 August to Sunday 31 August inclusive, Tram Train Route services will run between Woodbourn Road and Parkgate.
Supertram replacement bus service TT1 will connect to tram services at Cathedral, and will serve affected stops between Cathedral and Woodbourn Road.

Replacement bus service
BP1, YE1 & TT1 Bus
Replacement bus services BP1, and YE1/TT1 will provide a frequent and reliable connection to tram services, operating between Cathedral to Granville Road and Woodbourn Road
- Track your replacement bus: Use TSY Live Departures to see the location of your next replacement bus on a real-time map.
- Limited stop service: Buses only stop at specific bus stops which are located near to affected tram stops.
- Travel with your tram ticket: Show any valid tram ticket purchased in advance using the TSY Mobile App or from a tram conductor. Tickets can also be purchased from the bus driver.
Speed up your journey by having your ticket ready to show the driver. You can also purchase a ticket using contactless card or cash when you board, just ask for a ticket like you would do from a tram conductor.
Bus only tickets are not accepted by the replacement bus service.

Bus and Tram stop informationThe renewal works taking place near Fitzalan Square on Saturday 8 to Monday 31 August inclusive will prevent trams from being able to serve the following stops:
- Castle Square
- Fitzalan Square
- Hyde Park
- Cricket Inn Road
- Nunnery Square
The majority of the Supertram network will remain open. Information about affected tram stops, replacement bus stop locations, and bus stop facilities and accessibility, is available in the sections below.

Tram replacement bus stops will be marked and have information provided where possible. Use the maps in the sections below to plan ahead and find the location of your replacement bus stop.
These renewal works will affect some roads and footpaths.
Walking
Some pedestrian crossings over the tram tracks above Park Square Roundabout will be closed while works take place. Access will be maintained via clearly signposted diversion routes using alternative crossings.

Local buses
No other local bus services are expected be affected by these works, however localised traffic congestion may cause delays to nearby services.

Roads
Bernard Road is expected to be closed Monday 24, Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26 of August.

Park and Ride
All Travel South Yorkshire Park and Ride sites will remain open during these works, offering free parking as usual.

Walking, Wheeling and Cycling
It may be quicker and more convenient to walk, wheel or cycle part of your journey to connect to services at a different stop.
Free cycle parking is available at Halfway Park and Ride, and for customers of Crystal Peaks shopping centre there is also cycle parking available. In addition there is free cycle parking at Sheffield Interchange.

- City Hall to Cathedral: 4 minutes (322 meters)
- Cathedral to Castle Square: 2 minutes (161 meters)
- Castle Square to Fitzalan Square: 2 minutes (161 meters)
- Fitzalan Square to Hyde Park: 14 minutes (966 meters)
- Hyde Park to Cricket Inn Road: 6 minutes (485 meters)
- Cricket Inn Road to Nunnery Square: 15 minutes (0.7 miles)
- Nunnery Square to Woodbourn Road: 11 minutes (966 meters)
- Fitzalan Square to Sheffield Station: 10 minutes (805 meters)
- Sheffield Station to Granville Road: 5 minutes (322 meters)
