Supertram Renewal Works

Hillsborough and Shalesmoor

Saturday 24 to Saturday 31 October 2026

As part of our commitment to invest £110m into the Supertram network by 2027, we are carrying out essential rail replacement works in the Hillsborough and Shalesmoor areas to help maintain a safe and reliable tram network.

As a result of these works, tram services will be unable to operate through the affected area and replacement bus services will be provided. Some local bus services will also be affected. Check below to find out which services will be affected.

Most tram services are expected to resume across the network to their usual routes and timetables from Sunday 1 November.

Customers should also be aware that the ongoing engineering works at Birley Lane continue to affect services. Further information and the latest updates are available on the Birley Lane engineering works website.

What is being renewed?

  • Blue route: Will operate between Shalesmoor and Herdings Park.
  • Yellow route: Will operate between Cathedral and Meadowhall.
  • Purple route: Replaced by Blue route trams.
