How to book

School Group Offer

We offer complimentary adult travel for supervising staff and carers when travelling with children.

Additional adults can purchase standard tram tickets.

Child Tram Fares

£1 Child Single – available to purchase onboard

£3 Child Day Ticket – available onboard or through the TSY Mobile app using a Child account

Important information

Children under 5 travel free when accompanied by an adult
Children aged 5-10 can purchase a child ticket without a Zoom travel pass
Young people aged 11-18 require a Zoom travel pass for child fares

Park & Ride options for groups

If your group is travelling into Sheffield or Rotherham by coach or minibus, you can combine your journey with convenient tram travel using our Park & Ride sites across the Supertram network.

Your group can park or drop off near selected tram stops and continue the rest of the journey by tram, helping make travel into the city simpler and more convenient.

If you are considering a Park & Ride option for your journey, please mention this when contacting our team so we can help you choose the most suitable route and stop locations. Please note that height restrictions apply at some sites.

When can groups travel?

Our group travel offer is available throughout the year. We regularly support school trips, sports fixtures and tournaments, scout and youth group activities, and tourist visits. No matter the occasion, we'll help your group travel safely and efficiently.

Before travelling, we recommend checking our website for any planned engineering works that may affect services on your chosen travel date. You can also speak to a member of our team when booking, and we'll be happy to help you plan your journey.

Payment options

We offer flexible payment methods for schools and organisations booking group travel in advance:

Credit or debit card contactless payments onboard (up to £100)
Apple Pay and Google Pay onboard

If your final group size changes on the day, additional passengers can pay onboard where required.

Tram capacity information

Each tram can carry approximately 220 passengers, including standing passengers. There are typically 85-87 seats available. Seating cannot be guaranteed for group bookings as services remain open to the public, so groups may need to share space with other passengers. If you require a dedicated or special tram service, this can be reviewed separately by our team.

Group Travel Conditions

All journeys made with Supertram are subject to our Conditions of Carriage, copies of which are available on request
We will endeavour wherever possible to meet the needs of large groups of people travelling together at any one time and our staff will also assist wherever possible
While our trams can carry up to 220 passengers, available space for larger groups will depend on the route, stop location, and time of travel. We recommend groups of more than 50 passengers split across multiple services where possible. While we will aim to accommodate all groups, boarding cannot be guaranteed on busy services.
We reserve the right to limit number of group members travelling on any particular service, to ensure capacity remains available for other customers
All party members must be present at the service stop and ready to board on arrival of the service. Our drivers are unable to wait for any party members not already present on arrival of the service
In the event of members of your party not being present on arrival of the service, it is the responsibility of the group organiser/person in charge to split the group or choose to wait for the following service
Our services are unable to wait indefinitely and departure is at the driver’s discretion, in line with the published timetable
Where a dedicated service has been agreed, specific schedule details will be provided. Bookings must be confirmed with a valid PO or written confirmation at least 14 days before travel to allow invoicing and payment processing.
Amendments to travel arrangements must be requested no later than 7 days before travel and may be subject to additional costs. While we will aim to accommodate changes where possible, this cannot be guaranteed due to operational requirements
The use of all sets of doors will ensure boarding is carried out quickly and safely
Passengers under 18 must be supervised at all times. It is the responsibility of the school, nursery, or group organiser to ensure enough adults are present to supervise the group
The responsibility for supervision and safety of party members remains with the party organiser or person in charge. If an assigned Supertram staff member is provided, they will assist with the ease of boarding and exiting, but are not responsible for the supervision and welfare of the party members
Customers must not restrict the doors or prevent them from operating normally and should observe all warning signs
All passengers should sit down as quickly and safely as possible. Where seating is not available, everyone must ensure that they hold on securely to the handrails provided
Seating on our services cannot be reserved and designated seats should be offered to elderly, infirm or other customers who may require a seat
Special arrangements may be in place during engineering works and/or when replacement bus services are operating. You will be advised of these arrangements, which can vary depending on the location and impact of the engineering work, when you make your booking.
