Supertram put pups in the spotlight with new Sheffield Cathedral dog calendar competition

Sheffield Cathedral and South Yorkshire Supertram are calling on all dogs and their owners to take part in a 2026 dog calendar contest.
From 30 June to 11 July, the #StrikeAPaws competition will be searching for 12 four-legged legends to feature in the official Sheffield Cathedral Dogs 2026 Calendar.
The initiative is organised by the well-loved Sheffield 1554 Coffee and Gift Shop, which is celebrating a decade of coffee, community and cathedral life and is renowned for its dog-friendly atmosphere and loyal canine and human regulars.
Competition winners will get a prize package fit for any dog or human, including a professional photoshoot inside the Cathedral, a free 2026 calendar starring your pup, digital photographs, a doggy bag of treats and a complimentary Supertram travel pass (which is particularly useful since dogs are currently allowed on all trams in the area).
On Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 July, there will be an opportunity to join the competition organisers outside the Cathedral for a tail-wagging photo opportunity. Hopefuls can pose in a competition selfie frame, hang out with the Cathedral mascot Talbot, and take part in fun activities.
Dean of Sheffield, The Very Revd Abi Thompson said: “As someone who absolutely loves dogs, I’m thrilled that Sheffield Cathedral is a place where four-legged friends are just as welcome as their humans. Being a dog-friendly cathedral is one of the many ways we live out our commitment to being a place for all people. Sheffield is a city that champions community, and this calendar is a joyful celebration of that, bringing people (and pups!) together in a really special way. I can’t wait to see the amazing dogs of South Yorkshire take centre stage.”
“1554 Coffee and Gift Shop at Sheffield Cathedral is proudly dog-friendly with loyal human and canine regulars,” said Ruth Maher-Heslip, Founder and Manager of 1554 “We’re excited to invite the people of South Yorkshire to be part of our 2026 dog calendar and grateful to our local partners for supporting it with a fantastic prize.”
Jasmine Thompson, Senior Marketing Manager at Supertram, added: “Following the progress made during our Dogs on Trams trial, we’re delighted to support this fantastic initiative that brings people and their dogs together.”
The 2026 Dogs Calendar will be available for purchase in the Sheffield Cathedral gift shop later this year.
