Supertram Community Programme

We’re proud to launch our new community ambassador volunteer programme. This is an opportunity for local people to get involved in helping keep the Supertram network clean, green, and welcoming for everyone.

Our volunteers play an important role in supporting projects that enhance the look and feel of our stops and surrounding areas, helping create spaces the whole community can be proud of.

Who can take part?

We’re looking for people who:

  • Live in South Yorkshire
  • Have an interest in their local community
  • Are happy to support with light, practical tasks

No previous experience is required, just enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved. Whether you’re a student looking for some experience (minimum 16 years old) or a resident near one of our tram stops, we’d love to hear from you.

Volunteers should be aware that some activities take place in outdoor environments with plants and landscaped areas. If you have any known allergies (e.g. plants, pollen, soil, or similar), please ensure you consider this before taking part and inform the team at the start where relevant.

Volunteering opportunities

Activities will vary throughout the year and may include:

  • Planting and landscaping
  • Weeding and basic green space maintenance
  • Painting and small improvement projects
  • Light cleaning and litter picking
  • Engaging with passengers during special events

You’ll be working alongside our Supertram Presentation team to help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment across the network. All activities will be low-risk to gain achievable improvements and all relevant tools and guidance will be provided by a member of the Supertram team.

Volunteers should also take personal responsibility for appropriate sun protection during hot weather (e.g. wearing sunscreen, hats, and suitable clothing), as activities may take place outdoors for extended periods.
