Rail disruptions affecting services to/from Sheffield

Network Rail will be carrying out engineering works that will impact trains running in and out of Sheffield from Monday 2 February to Friday 6 February. No train services will run north of Sheffield station (including Meadowhall, Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Leeds) as lines are closed to allow Network Rail to carry out engineering works in the Attercliffe area of Sheffield.

How will services be affected?

All CrossCountry and Northern services which operate via Sheffield and TransPennine Express services which run between Liverpool Lime Street and Cleethorpes will be affected from Monday 2 February to Friday 6 February as follows:

CrossCountry

Services will run to an amended timetable between Chesterfield/Derby and Sheffield and some services will not call at Chesterfield.

Additionally, journey times between Sheffield and Leeds will be extended by up to 15 minutes.

Northern

Trains between Sheffield and York/Leeds/Doncaster/Adwick and Lincoln will not run.

Rail replacement buses will run between:

Moorthorpe and York

  • Sheffield and Meadowhall/Rotherham Central
  • Sheffield and Lincoln.

TransPennine Express

  • No trains will run between Sheffield and Doncaster.
  • Replacement buses will run between Sheffield and Doncaster, running non-stop.
  •  A few late night/early morning buses will additionally call at Meadowhall.
  • Train services will run between Doncaster and Cleethorpes, and between Sheffield and Liverpool Lime Street.
