Travel advice Decathlon 5k fun run – Sunday 23 August

The 3rd Edition Decathlon 5k fun run will take place on Sunday 23 August in Sheffield city centre, as part of Decathlon’s nationwide RunDays series.

Around 500 runners are expected to take part in the event, which starts at the Decathlon store on Eyre Street.

To ensure the safety of visitors, supporters and those taking part, there will be road closures in place in the city centre between 09:30 and 11:45.

Impact on bus services

The city centre road closures between 09:30 and 11:45 will have an effect on bus services, with some services being diverted while the event takes place, as follows:

  • Services 18A, 73, 95, 272 towards Sheffield Interchange will divert via Arundel Gate, Angel Street, Castle Street, Haymarket, Fitzalan Square and Flat Street.
  • Services 18A, 73, 272 from Sheffield Interchange will divert via Flat Street, Fitzalan Square and Arundel Gate.
  • Service 51
    • Towards Charnock will divert via Arundel Gate, Angel Street, Castle Street, Haymarket and Arundel Gate.
    • Towards Lodge Moor journeys will be unaffected.
  • Service 56
    • Towards Nether Edge will divert via Park Square, Sheaf Street, Flat Street, Fitzalan Square and Arundel Gate.
    • Towards Wybourn will divert via Arundel Gate, Angel Street, Castle Street, Haymarket, Fitzalan Square and Flat Street.
  • Services 43, 44, 65, X17
    • Towards Sheffield will divert from Eyre Street via Arundel Gate, Commercial Street, Park Square Roundabout, Sheaf Street and Harmer Lane before resuming the normal route.
    • Towards Chesterfield journeys will be unaffected.
  • Service 57 will divert via Arundel Gate in both directions.
  • Service 65 towards Bakewell will divert via Flat Street, Fitzalan Square and Arundel Gate.
  • Service SC1 towards Sheffield Interchange will divert from Eyre Street via Arundel Gate, Commercial Street, Park Square Roundabout, Sheaf Street and Harmer Lane.
  • Service SC2 from Sheffield Interchange will divert via Flat Street, Fitzalan Square and Arundel Gate, resuming the normal route on Furnival Gate.
  • Service 218
    • Towards Sheffield Interchange will divert via Arundel Gate, Angel Street, Castle Street, Haymarket, Flat Street, Pond Street and Sheffield Bus Interchange.
    • Towards Bakewell will divert from Sheffield Interchange via Flat Street, Fitzalan Square and Arundel Gate, resuming the normal route on Furnival Gate.
  • Tram replacement bus service BP1 will divert via Charter Row, Moor Street, St Mary's Gate, St Mary's Road and Fornham Street before returning to the normal route on Suffolk Road.

Customers should use alternative bus stops on the diversion routes.
