Supertram supports charity initiative: Mission Christmas Toy Appeal 2025

Hundreds of donations worth over £1,400 raised for children across South Yorkshire

Supertram colleagues have once again shown their generosity and community spirit by supporting Cash for Kids’ Mission Christmas Toy Appeal 2025, donating hundreds of toys and raising over £1,400 worth of gifts for children across South Yorkshire who may otherwise have gone without.

This year’s appeal was supported through our Tramendous Together programme, which supports employee-led initiatives that make a positive difference in our community.

Festive fundraising led by one of our own

Throughout December, a series of Christmas-themed fundraising activities brought colleagues together across the business. The initiative was led by Simon, one of our Tram Drivers, whose enthusiasm and creativity helped bring the appeal to life.
Simon found thoughtful and responsible ways to contribute while carefully balancing his support for the appeal with his operational duties. He dedicated personal care and attention to creating the games and materials, ensuring every activity ran smoothly without impacting essential tram services. His energy set the tone for a fantastic team effort.

Some of the activities included:
•    Find the fizz
•    Guess how many sweets are in the stocking
•    Name the merry bear
•    The Big Elf Service finale - serving hot chocolate, festive treats and plenty of Christmas cheer

Gift ideas were also displayed on the back of the baubles on Supertram’s office Christmas tree, helping to inspire colleagues with suggestions for what to donate.

A tram-load of kindness

Thanks to the generosity of our colleagues, the donations quickly grew until one of our trams looked more like Santa’s Grotto than a passenger vehicle, packed with toys ready to be delivered to children who need them most.

Teamwork that truly made a difference

A huge thank you goes to every colleague who bought a toy, took part in the games, donated money or helped behind the scenes. This year’s appeal showcased the very best of Supertram with teams pulling together, lifting spirits and delivering something truly meaningful for our community.

Simon, who led the initiative, shared what the appeal meant to him:

“Christmas was always a magical time for me growing up, and I know not every child gets that. I just wanted to help bring a bit of that joy to children who might otherwise miss out. I’m really grateful to everyone at Supertram who got behind it, the support has been incredible, and together we’ve made a real difference for local families.”

Lisa Sullivan, Charity Manager at Cash for Kids South Yorkshire & Derbyshire, added:

“We are so thrilled to have the support of Supertram for Mission Christmas, and to receive £1,400 worth of gifts from them is absolutely amazing. A big thank you to everyone involved from us and from the children we support.”

Getting the gifts on their way

Thank you also to Cash for Kids’ driver who collected the toys, and to the whole Cash for Kids team who will now sort and distribute the donations to ensure they reach children in time for Christmas.
