Travel South Yorkshire is the brand identity of the public transport network of South Yorkshire incorporating cycling and walking organisations. It represents over 40 organisations who deliver the public transport network. The South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) manages the brand on behalf of the partners.

The South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority is responsible for the co-ordination of public transport in South Yorkshire.

This includes bus stops and shelters, interchanges, rail stations and Park & Ride sites that make up the Travel South Yorkshire network. 

The South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority also provides region-wide timetables, journey planners and personalised travel advice to individuals and organisations.


Public transport operators

Operators such as FirstStagecoachSouth Yorkshire Supertram and Northern along with many others provide the bus, tram, tram train and rail services that create the Travel South Yorkshire public transport network. A full list of operators can be seen on the useful links page.  

The Travel South Yorkshire partners are working together to invest in and improve facilities to all services as well as to provide better passenger information.

Local councils

BarnsleyDoncasterRotherham and Sheffield councils provide investment in bus lanes, other bus priority measures, new rail and bus stations, Park & Ride sites and other sustainable travel measures that support and improve the operation of the Travel South Yorkshire public transport network.

Transport Strategy & Vision

The South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) and the four local councils (Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield) make up the Transport Strategy & Vision

The objectives of the Transport Strategy & Vision are to support economic growth by developing and maintaining an integrated transport system and enhancing the overall quality of life for the local residents and workers of South Yorkshire.
