Share your feedback about Supertram's Network Improvement Works

We've already implemented a number of changes and improvements as a result of the feedback we've received, including:

• Replacement bus services will now always directly serve Crystal Peaks Interchange to provide better connection to the shopping centre and improved customer facilities.
• Replacement bus services will now serve Sheffield Interchange (outbound) as an alternative connection to Sheffield Station, providing better customer facilities including seating and on-site customer service staff.
• Bus stop location descriptions now feature local landmarks to make them easier to find.
• Live departure information is available for replacement bus services, making it easier to find your bus connection using our TSY Live Departure tools.
  • Real time information is also available at bus stops with displays.
  • We're continuing to work to make this more reliable, and also add live departure information at Sheffield Interchange.
• We now aim to provide a minimum of 2 weeks advance notice of planned engineering works.
• Directional signage and wayfinding has been improved.

South Yorkshire Supertram came back under public control after 27 years on 22 March last year as the first step in the Mayor’s commitment for an integrated public transport system.

South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) is continuing to invest to future proof and extend the lifespan of our tram network, with a programme of rail replacement engineering and network improvement works.

Supertram connects millions of people to jobs, education, healthcare, shopping, leisure and to visit family and friends – connecting some of the most deprived areas of our region, levelling the playing field for many residents.

Rail replacement works will give passengers a better travel experience by improving comfort, reducing noise in areas where tracks are currently worn, and reducing the risk of unplanned closures on the network.

We've completed a number of works so far this year, including:

Track renewal works near:

• Birley Lane and Birley Moor Road
• Hillsborough Interchange
• Gleadless Townend tram stop
• Hillsborough Barracks

We're currently working on:

• Ridgeway Road (between Manor Top and Hollinsend)
• Park Grange Road
• Norfolk Park viaduct (near Park Grange Croft tram stop)

Other improvements:

• Tram shelter glazing replacement programme
• Tram shelter poster case plastic replacement programme

Supertram services are typically less busy during the school holidays, and many people have more flexibility to make alternative travel arrangements, helping to minimise disruption.

An overview of upcoming Supertram network improvement and maintenance works is published in advance of each set of works on our Network Improvements page.

Posters will also be displayed at tram stops and Travel South Yorkshire Interchanges and Park and Ride sites in affected areas of the network.

Trams will also have posters, conductors will be able to advise of upcoming changes to services, and information display screens at tram stops will advise of upcoming works.
