Public transport is the choice to get right there, right now, to Tramlines
People heading for the Tramlines festival can make the most of public transport to get to this year’s event which runs from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 July at Hillsborough Park.
Up to 40,000 festivalgoers will be making the journey and this year for the first time, there will be extra Supertram services running at busy times around the festival – and the chance to take advantage of new tram ticket offers over the weekend.
South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) and Tramlines strongly recommend travelling to the festival via public transport as there is no on-site parking and there is strictly no parking on the surrounding residential roads.
Visitors to the festival travelling by bus or tram are also encouraged to buy their tickets in advance, to allow extra time for their journey and to plan ahead.
Staff from Supertram will be on the ground at the festival to help people with any queries and ensure the tram service runs smoothly.
South Yorkshire’s Mayor Oliver Coppard said: "I'm really excited to be heading down to Tramlines at the end of the month - it's so important in giving young South Yorkshire musicians the chance to play a massive festival, and the line-up this year is brilliant.
"We're making it even easier this year for people to get there and back - we've got extra trams running when it's busiest, and we're trying out some new ticket offers too.
"As one of the biggest events in South Yorkshire's calendar, it's important that we can all get around easily and affordably so everyone can make the most of what the Tramlines weekend has to offer."
From Friday 24 July to Sunday 27 September, two new £10 tram ticket summer offers, valid across all Supertram services, will be available to help customers make the most of tram travel for less over the summer.
The two new £10 ticket offers are:
-
a Group 1-Day Ticket, giving up to five people unlimited travel from the first tram until the end of service on the day of purchase,
-
a Weekend Ticket, offering unlimited travel across the tram and Tram Train network from noon on Friday until the end of service on Sunday
These offers are perfect for getting to Tramlines festival and enjoying days out across South Yorkshire and will be available shortly via the TSY Mobile app or from the tram conductor.
