English National Concession Frequently Asked Questions

If you are aged 60 and over or have mobility problems and live within  South Yorkshire, you can now claim your new English National Concession pass which allows you to free bus travel throughout England.*

Your new pass is valid from 01 April 2008 and will replace your existing Senior Citizen and Mobility passes. However you can still use your old passes until 30th September 2008.

The new English National Concession Pass will entitle South Yorkshire residents to free bus travel outside South Yorkshire between 9:30am and 11:00pm on weekdays, and all day on weekends and on Bank Holidays.*

In South Yorkshire you can use the new English National Concession pass in the same way as your old Senior Citizen or Mobility pass.

Your English National Concession pass will be valid for five years.

Applying for a new pass

If you an existing Senior Citizen or Mobility pass holder and would like to order your new English National Concession pass you need to do the following:

  1. Take your old pass and proof of your address, to any Travel South Yorkshire Information Centre.

If you have never had a pass before, please go to an Information Centre and take with you:

  1. Proof of age (for example, birth certificate, passport, medical card);
  2. Proof of address (for example, medical card, driving licence, gas bill, electricity bill or Council Tax bill);
  3. A recent passport size photograph.

Can I renew by post?

Yes, you may also apply for the new English National Concession pass if you already have an existing Senior Citizen or Mobility pass by post.

Simply;

  • post either your old pass or a new photograph
  • and a note stating your name, phone number and address.
