How does YourNextBus work?
Satellite navigation technology tracks the exact location of your bus and then calculates exactly when it will arrive using your unique 8 digit bus stop number.

How much does it cost?
Each text costs a maximum of 12p, plus your standard network rate Locating your bus stop number

What is a bus stop number?
It is a unique eight digit number present at every bus stop in South Yorkshire, it always starts with the numbers 370 e.g. 370 22345

How do I find the bus stop number?
The eight digit number will be located on the bus stop flag, or within the timetable information

How many bus times will be included on my text?
The YourNextBus service aims to bring you, where available, the next four bus times available for your stop

What's the difference between live and scheduled time?
Live times uses satellite technology to predict the arrival time of the bus provided in minutes i.e. due in 3 minutes.
The scheduled time refers to the latest timetable information and is provided as a 24 hour clock reading i.e. 17:03

When will I be sent scheduled information?
If you’re at one of the few bus stops which does not have YourNextBus coverage you will receive timetable information instead of the live time

After I’ve text the number how long will it take to receive the message?
You should receive a message within 60 seconds of sending the text

What does LF mean on my returned information?
LF is sometimes displayed on the returned text message or Internet/WAP screen against a service number. It stands for 'low floor'. People with difficulties stepping up onto a bus or with pushchairs may prefer to use a low floor access bus

What other ways are there to receive this information?
YourNextBus is also available via mobile internet and online at TravelSouthYorkshire.com/ynb

Will I be charged if I don't get a reply?
There will be no charge to the customer on the rare occasion that the system is unable to provide live or scheduled information

What if I text the wrong number?
Unfortunately you will be charged if you send an invalid or incorrect message

Can I get times for buses later the same day?
You can receive timetable based information to your mobile on any bus running throughout that day. Firstly input your unique 8-digit bus stop number, then add a space and then enter your chosen time.

Please make sure you use the 24 hour clock e.g. 37021180 1330

Can I get times for a specific service later in the day?
Yes, simply input your 8-digit bus stop number, then add a and then enter the bus service. Then add another space and enter your chosen time.
