Vandalism is for losers, and everybody loses
Thousands of pounds are spent every year repairing damage caused by people who vandalise public transport.
Transport companies try to prevent vandalism and bad behaviour on buses, trains and trams.
People caught causing damage will not be allowed to use the service and their names will be given to the local police and to their school if they are pupils under 16.
Parents will be required to pay for any repairs needed because of vandalism by someone who is still at school.
Young people who are being a nuisance by being cheeky or noisy in front of other passengers may be told by the transport company that they are no longer permitted to use the service.
The most common complaints made about young people using buses are opening the emergency door, fighting, throwing things out of the window and graffiti.
Vandals are not only school children. Some adults cause damage and disruption to passengers and they are vandals too, whether they are drunk or sober.
