Travel passes

  • When you move on to year 7, you will need a bus pass so you can use public transport at a reduced fare.

    MegaTravel Card

    If you are aged 11-16 and living in South Yorkshire you can have a MegaTravel Card to prove to bus drivers, tram conductors and ticket sellers that you are entitled to travel at reduced cost on public transport. This means:

    • you can enjoy cut price travel for only 60p, seven days a week on all buses and trams in South Yorkshire. 
    • get half price travel on local trains in South Yorkshire
    • use it right up to the end of the school year in which you have your 16th birthday

    MegaTravel Mi cardBarnsley Mi Card


    Mi Card is available for free to young people in Barnsley only and incorporates the MegaTravel Card. For details of this scheme please contact Barnsley Council on 01226 775656 or visit the website at www.barnsley.gov.uk/micard.

    It entitles the holder to free bus travel in Barnsley from 9am to 9pm on weekdays and Bank Holidays and all day at weekends. Also discounted journeys in the rest of South Yorkshire.

    Remember
    To carry your pass with you at all times when travelling on public transport, even when you’re with an adult or in school uniform. If you don't have your pass, you'll have to pay the full fare.
