First Day at School - make your plan now!
Is it your first day at a new school? Or are you catching the bus to school for the first time? Don't worry - we can give you some helpful tips to make your first journey easier.
- Are any of your friends or classmates getting the same bus? Arrange to meet them at the bus stop, or meet near your home and walk to the bus stop together.
- Be confident! Think of all the extra places buses, trams and trains can take you in the future!

- Make sure you have the right money for your fare and your MegaTravel pass with you. It will make getting on the bus much quicker! If you are not sure what the fare is you can double check by calling Traveline on 01709 51 51 51.
- Check that you know what time your bus is supposed to arrive. There are timetables at most stops, or you can look for your timetable with the online timetable fnder.
- Get your things ready the night before - then you don't have to rush in the morning.
- Plan your bus journey using a timetable and stick to the same time and route for the first few weeks. You'll soon get the hang of it.
- Checkout the YourNextBus service - you can get bus times to your mobile just text the unique bus stop code to 64422 (texts cost 12p)
First journey check list:
- Set your alarm - you don't want to miss the bus!
- Pack your school bag
- Get your uniform ready
- Pack your school stuff - pens, calculator, all the things you need for your lessons
- Get your dinner money or packed lunch ready
- Check you've got your MegaTravel pass
- Check your bus timetable or your journey plan from the online journey planner.
Remember - lots of people get the bus, so you don't need to be nervous.
