A timetable tells you when your bus should arrive at your stop and how long it will take you to get to the end of your journey. On the timetable you can also see how often the bus runs, and if it runs at different times on different days. On some timetables you can also see a map of where the bus goes, which shows you any important places along the way.
Timetables are easy to use, but when you first look at them you might think they're a bit confusing. It's easy - anyone can read a timetable! Here’s how:
- Read down the side of the timetable to see the main stops that the bus goes to. This will show you the order in which the bus arrives at its stops.
- Look along the row next to each of the stops printed on the timetable. Each stop has times listed to show when the bus arrives at that stop. The times use the 24 hour clock and are listed with the earliest bus on the left of the timetable reading across for later times as the day goes on.
- By reading down the timetable and using your maths skills you can find out how long the bus takes to get from one stop to another, as well as how long it takes to complete the route.
