  • MegaTravel cardThe MegaTravel Card

    If your child is aged 11-16 and lives in South Yorkshire, they need a MegaTravel Card. The card is free and qualifies the holder for cheaper fares throughout South Yorkshire at any time:



    • Bus 60p per journey within South Yorkshire, no matter how far they travel.
    • Tram 60p per journey, no matter how far they travel.
    • Train half the adult fare (on local trains).

    Mobility pass Mobility Pass

    A Mobility Pass entitles disabled people to free travel on all buses, trams and local trains in South Yorkshire. It can also be used on some cross-boundary services and at any time except for late night services. To find out if you are entitled to a Mobility Pass you can obtain a leaflet from any Travel South Yorkshire Information Centre or visit the Travel South Yorkshire website. Alternatively, you can contact your local authority on the numbers below:

    Zero fare pass Zero Fare Pass

    A Zero Fare Pass provides free travel within South Yorkshire between home and school. The passes are valid for use between September and July, Monday to Friday until 7pm on the days when your child’s school is open.

    Local Authorities may provide free Zero Fare Passes for pupils travelling more than 3 miles from home to school (or more than 2 miles for pupils under 8 years old) and attend their catchment school or nearest appropriate school. To find out if your child is entitled to free travel to and from school, please contact your Local Authority:

    Entitlement may differ depending on which district you live in. If your child doesn’t qualify for a free Zero Fare Pass, you can still purchase a pass for the academic year. Prices are based on the current concessionary fare and vary on age, residency and number of buses used for the home/school journey.     MegaTravel Mi cardBarnsley Mi Card

     Mi Card is available for free to young people in Barnsley only and incorporates the MegaTravel Card. For details of this scheme please contact Barnsley Council on 01226 775656 or visit the website at www.barnsley.gov.uk/micard.

    It entitles the holder to free bus travel in Barnsley from 9am to 9pm on weekdays and Bank Holidays and all day at weekends. Also discounted journeys in the rest of South Yorkshire.
