English National Concession Travel Scheme (ENCTS) - Disabled People

The English National Concession Travel Scheme (ENCTS) entitles disabled people to free off peak travel on buses across England.

Pass holders are also entitled to free local bus and tram travel at any time. Passes issued to South Yorkshire residents are also valid between all stations on the South Yorkshire rail network, and to and from West Yorkshire on Northern Rail Services (provided a change of train is not required in West Yorkshire).

Duration: Dependent on individual circumstances. Holders can apply for a renewal up to a month before the expiry of their current pass and may need to be referred back to their local council to confirm continuing entitlement.

Pass holders can travel for free all day:

  • On any bus or tram within South Yorkshire

South Yorkshire pass holders may also travel all day:

  • on train services operating within South Yorkshire
  • to and from West Yorkshire on Northern Rail services (without changing trains in West Yorkshire)

In all other parts of England, South Yorkshire passes can be used for free travel on bus services between 0930 and 2300 weekdays and all day weekends and Bank Holidays. They are not valid on tram or train services outside of South Yorkshire.
