16-18 Student Pass
The 16-18 Student Pass entitles pass holders to concessionary travel on buses and trams in South Yorkshire and to half fare on Northern train services in South Yorkshire. No pass means full fare.
Concessionary bus and tram fares will increase from 70p to 80p per journey on 18 September 2016. There could be another ticket offering better value for money. Explore your ticket options using our ticket finder.
Academic year 2016/17
You will only be able to apply once you have enrolled at your school/college or training agency at the start of the new 2016/17 Academic year and you have been given your unique validation code. Passes for some students will be automatically processed, your school/college or training agency will tell you if this applies when you enrol.
Who can apply?
You can apply for a 16-18 Pass if you meet ALL three of the following:
- you are in full-time education* AND
- you are born between 1 September 1998 and 31 August 2000 AND
- you live in South Yorkshire and your household pays council tax to Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham or Sheffield councils
*if you are studying with a non-school-or-college provider of training and development (Training Agencies) you may qualify for a 16-18 Student Pass if you are engaged in at least 12 hours classroom based education/learning per week.
How to apply
- Apply with a Unique Validation Code (UVC)* either online or by post.
*Sheffield College Students: please note your college has arranged for passes to be automatically processed. If you are a Year 13 student returning in September your pass will be available to collect when you enroll. If you are a new student your application will be automatically processed when you enroll and your pass will be sent to your home address within 7 working days.
